OCD Awareness Week


    

Today, October 12th, is the first day of OCD Awareness Week.  The International Obsessive-Compulsive Foundation (OCF) is the force behind the creation of OCD Awareness Week, which it describes as “a vehicle for support, advocacy and education to help end the stigma surrounding OCD and encourage sufferers to identify the disorder and / or seek treatment”.  The OCF is also working with its many local affiliates around the US “to educate their communities and the public as a whole about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and its treatments.” › Continue reading

2009 Obsessive-Compulsive Foundation Conference


    

Every year the Obsessive Compulsive Foundation hosts a weekend conference featuring seminars, presentations, and group support opportunities for treatment providers, OCD sufferers, and their families.  The 2009 conference was held August 7-9  in Minneapolis and I had the opportunity to attend.  I attended so many interesting discussions and met so many psycho therapists who specialize in treating OCD, that it will be a challenge to summarize the experience.  For those who missed out this year, here are some of the more noteworthy things I noticed. › Continue reading
